Key Projects

The Bryant School Foundation has raised more than $60,000 to support school initiatives ranging from in-class literacy instruction for teachers and students, to music instruction and instruments, to a new playground set.

The Foundation operates by working collaboratively with the Bryant Elementary's teachers, administrators, parents and outside program managers to apply donor resources effectively.

 Peter Sloss Gift of Literacy
An annual program that brings supplemental literacy instruction into Bryant classrooms.  The goals of this program 1) to make participating students significantly more proficient at reading and writing, and 2) to provide participating teachers with new literacy teaching skills they will use in their classrooms.  The Peter Sloss Gift of Literacy is named after the late Peter F. Sloss, co-founder of the Bryant School foundation, long-time school volunteer and supporter of Bay Area dramatic arts.

New Teaching Skills
The Foundation has sponsored teacher training from Step Up to Writing, a structured method of literacy instruction based on students writing personal narratives, and as part of the Peter Sloss Gift of Literacy program.

 Arts at Bryant
A series of programs, including the purchase of musical instruments, sponsorship of a music teacher, and logistical support for a variety of fund-raising initiatives lead by Bryant teachers and outside volunteers.

 Physical Education
The Foundation purchased and installed a playground set to give students expand the range of physical activities available to students.
